Friday night the Cardinal boys varsity track and field team took 2nd place at the Conference Indiana Championship! Many of the Southport competitors set personal bests while exceeding what they were projected to do. Our team was seeded to score 96 and we ended up with 109. Way to seize the moment guys! We had two double-champs that had an incredible night under the Friday night lights down at Bloomington North. Braylon Koenig is a conference champion in the 100 meter dash and the high jump! He also placed third in the long jump and was part of the 4x100 relay that placed 3rd. Ben Brown is also a double conference champ! His mark of 180 feet and 7 inches was more than enough to win the discus and his mark of 61 feet and 4 inches beat 2nd place by almost 8 feet! Other top 3 finishers include... R. Sanders - 2nd in 300IH, 3rd in PV T. Tyler - 2nd in 110HH P. Airhiagbonkpa - 3rd HJ L. Wilson - 3rd in 110HH [T. Tyler, J. Montgomery, P. Airhiagbonkpa, R. Sanders] - 2nd in 4x400 [P. Buis, P. Airhiagbonkpa, B. Koenig, R. Sanders] - 3rd in 4x100 *Braylon Koenig and Ricky Sanders were top three in all four of their events. What a great way to start off the championship meet part of the season. Your Cardinal boys track and field team look forward to finishing out the season strong! We are proud of you guys!
